Ridge High School Sailing

About the Team
Est. 2022
The Ridge High School Sailing team is a Varsity level sport welcoming both new and experienced sailors. For new sailors, we prioritize teaching the basics of sailing, including point of sail, boat parts, and skippering / crewing. For experienced sailors, we teach race strategy, including race starts and racing rules. The Ridge Sailing Team is a member of the national Interscholastic Sailing Association (ISSA) through our local league, the New Jersey Interscholastic Sailing Association (NJISA) which is part of the Mid-Atlantic Interscholastic Sailing Association (MASSA). We sail out of the Raritan Yacht Club in Perth Amboy, NJ, on the waters of Raritan Bay and Arthur Kill. We attend regattas sponsored by NJISA weekly in Toms River, NJ. The NJISA competitions offer the chance to advance to MASSA Regionals and, ultimately ISSA Nationals. High school sailing includes both boys and girls who compete on an equal basis. Competitive sailing has two seasons per year, Spring and Fall. Sailors can choose to participate in one or both seasons.
